Board of Health · Meeting of June 11, 2026

Agawam Board of Health discussed updates to body art regulations that would establish apprenticeship standards for tattoo artists. Health Nurse Pam Sheridan outlined requirements including 2,400 hours of training over a minimum of two years, yearly physician clearance with TB testing, and bloodborne pathogen certification; apprentices must be at least 18 years old and provide proof of a qualified trainer. The Board also received an update on an Intramunicipal Agreement for a $300,000 state-funded public health shared services arrangement with East Longmeadow as host and Westfield and West Springfield as participating towns.

The Mayor and town law department are currently reviewing the agreement before the Board votes to formally join the arrangement.
