Board of Health approves mosquito district membership resolution

AGAWAM — The Agawam Board of Health unanimously approved a revised resolution to join the Pioneer Valley Mosquito Control District. Health Agent Lauren Kennedy presented the revised membership resolution; Vice Chair Robin Pleshaw moved approval and Board Member Laurie Benoit seconded, with the vote passing 3-0. The resolution moves to Mayor Johnson for consideration.

The board also heard from Registered Nurse Gina Smus on her Diabetic Education Workshops at the Senior Center, with a new support group for residents with diabetes and caregivers launching in May. The Health Department is partnering with the Library for a Sharps Take-Back Collection Day on April 18 from 9 to 11 a.m.
