AGAWAM — City Council backs $2.6M fire truck purchase and grants. The Agawam City Council unanimously approved a $2,577,398 bond to purchase two fire engine pump trucks for the Fire Department, supported by a positive Finance Committee recommendation from Chair Dino Mercadante. The council also unanimously accepted an $18,760 grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security for the department.
In separate action, the council tabled a resolution authorizing land takings for a Cooper Street, Suffield Street, and Rowley Street intersection reconstruction pending a public workshop set for April 27. The council confirmed two reappointments to the Community Preservation Act Committee and unanimously approved three CPA Fund appropriations totaling over $100,000 for field irrigation, habitat restoration, and land acquisition.
